Zeiss Ikon started to produce rangefinder cameras for 35mm roll film in 1932, following the success of the Leica. It had a coupled long-base rangefinder and a metal focal-plane shutter, moving vertically with a top speed of 1/1000 sec – also the removable back made film loading much easier than with the Leica. — Very early Contax I from the first year of production with one ‘dimple’ in beautiful and perfect working condition, matching black/nickel Tessar 3.5/5cm no.1271282 (clean lenses). — A/B — 1932 — A.U.21744
