Photographing Singapore Streets at Little India is a hands-on workshop combining street and architecture photography to tell a complete visual story. Participants will learn two skill sets: techniques for photographingheritage buildings and shophouses from the ground, and how to capture the moment that is the essence of street photography. The class will examine light, black and white vs. color mediums, and how to select images to best tell a visual story.
Workshop Outcomes:
Attendees will learn all of the elements needed to document a building, street or neighbourhood with just a few images. Techniques can be used to tell visual stories for publications, online portfolios or social media, and for documenting holidays and unique places of interest. Participants will learn
- How to use 3 or more images to tell a compelling visual story
- 3 techniques for photographing external urban architecture such as shophouses or old buildings
- How to identify potentially interesting street and building scenes
- How to read the light for the best external architecture photos
- How to identify and photograph unique details in external situations
- Practical tips and techniques for photographing people
Skills:
- Ideal settings for architecture photography with a tripod
- Reading light for external photography images
- Ideal settings for detail images
- How to photograph people in a specific location naturally (non-posed)
- How to select images to tell a visual story
To ensure a conducive learning environment, the workshop is limited to 6 pax per session, and a limited range of Leica cameras and lenses will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Who should attend:
This workshop is suitable for learners who are lower intermediate and above.
Equipment Requirements:
- Digital or film camera, and a tripod if possible.
- Recommend one wide lens, between 21mm and35mm.

This workshop will involve much walking. It is advised that participants wear comfortable shoes, hats, and to bring water to stay hydrated.
